A Concise Spanking Industry Glossary

Here’s a little glossary for you. I’ve had to figure out some of these things for myself, so I thought I’d do the world a favour and explain them to you.

In the spanking industry:
Girls – female models/performers
Guys 1 (also, Boys) – male models/performers
Guys 2 (also, the Beards) – the audience at home
Facial – a shot of performer’s facial expression, usually of fear or pain (not to be confused with the vanilla porn facial, yuck).
Impact (also, Pancake shot) – in stills, a shot of the instant the implement hits the target; is supposed to create a visible wobble and indentation (See an example above – the bottom belongs to Lucy McLean.)
Sub – the spankee. Is not necessarily submissive. I prefer the term “bottom”, and will use it more often.
Dom/me – the spanker. Is not necessarily dominant. I prefer the term “top”, ditto.
Gratuitous Panty Shot – a shot that allows a glimpse of the girl’s panties when it wasn’t strictly necessary.
Tramlines – double welts left with a cane.
Cut – 1. Everybody’s safeword. 2. When a whippy implement draws blood.
Dead puppies! (kittens, babies) – a phrase supposed to help the model look distraught, and hopefully cry.
