This movie seems to be like dark, bad Gogol story. It was so hilarious because it seems to mix crude stereotypes and out of place magic realism with an insider insight into the life of a poor Soviet-block household (No meat on our table! Sausage is made out of cardboard! Can barely buy razors on the black market!). The uniforms with the young pioneer ties, though, made me nostalgic, - I used to wear this up to maybe 5th grade until the collapse of the Soviet Union. Now, that's a good costume for a school-girl roleplay, and to think of all the uses for that red tie...
