DVD review: ‘Hostel Lupus’ (Lupus pictures)
“Hostel Lupus” is one of the more bizarre production from Lupus pictures, but the top-notch spanking action and the beauty of the actresses more than make up for the overall cheerful insanity of the plot.

The Client and the Whoremaster
Set just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film focuses on the adventures of one kinky Westerner, introduced to us as Norbert (Alfi Grovio). Having heard some wild stories about the sort of delights Eastern European underworld can offer a well-heeled man, he sets off to Prague with a hope to find some corporal punishment action.
He has the address of a Shady Guy (Jan Zlatousty), and after several misadventures eventually convinced him to set up the kinky scene with some local girls. This introduction is quite drawn-out and detailed, but finally we do get to see the girls well be dealing with. We see the Shady Guy talk two young ladies into coming to his dungeon, with a promise of serious money in return for bending over for a punishment.
A young blonde (Renata Sukova – “Vote for EU”, “Close Encounters,” “Christmas Quiet”, “The Minimalist”, “Two-Faced”, “Internal Affairs”, “Friday the 13th” ), who had just been skilfully negotiating her fee, is suddenly uncertain. “Will it hurt?” she asks. And the Shady Guy dismisses her fears with an unconcerned shrug, “Oh, a little.” An experienced viewer knows that the girl will soon find out just how much of an understatement this is.
The Grim Dungeon
Quaking in his boots, Norbert arrives in the dungeon, and is led along a dim corridor by the Shady Guy and a serving man all trussed up in a leather harness, like a stock picture of a bondage slave. One of the doors they go past is ajar, and Norbert peeks inside. There he sees a naked girl, who appears unconscious and covered in blood. The Shady Guy hurriedly slams the door shut, muttering: “Gunther is such a pig!”
Norbert arrives in a spacious room decorated in a stereotypical dungeon style, complete with scary implements on the wall, whipping frames, and a cage in the corner with a naked girl inside.
Plonked in the middle of this dungeon is the rather incongruous-looking school blackboard. Beside it, a dark-haired girl (Vera Vranova – “A New Job”, “Friday the 13th”) is putting the finishing touches to her school uniform: she pulls up her white knee socks and nervously sucks on the end of her plait. The Shady Guy dons an academic gown, transforming into a Headmaster.
Norbert is invited to sit on a bench by the wall, from where he’ll be able to view faux-schoolgirl’s upcoming punishment. There is already another spectator there. This man introduces himself as Gunther, and acts as though he’s an old hands at these events. Norbert trembles harder than the girl who’s about to be caned, clutching on his cup of coffee like on a safety rope.

The requested role-play begins. The Headmaster shouts at the girl for not doing her homework and writing rude messages on the blackboard. She perfunctorily pleads for mercy, but soon submits to his command to strip, kneel and kiss his hand. Still kneeling, she must crawl to fetch a cane, and is made to bend over the familiar Lupus whipping bench.
The role-play may be tongue-in-cheek and over the top, but the punishment that follows is very impressively executed and filmed. There are 50 strokes; they are hard, but very precise. They are interspersed with facial shots and glimpses of the girl who is curled up in the cage.
At the end of the whipping, the Shady Guy turns to Gunther for comment. The latter compliments him loudly, after which, to Norbert’s horror, the serving man arrives to help Gunther to drag the just-caned girl away. She wails louder than she ever did during the caning, but eventually the screaming subsides.
The pony-girl’s trials
Norbert is visibly uneasy after this. Neither does he feel more comfortable when the Shady Guy unlocks the cage in the corner, to release the naked statuesque beauty he’d had hidden there (Karolina Krasna – “Red Reformatory I: Teddy Bear”, “The Legend of Lenny The Tough”). She is subjected to some pony training by the local specialist (Michal Valášek ): she has to put own her harness, and insert the plug that ends with a handsome horse’s tail, before being made to trot around the room.
Although the Shady Guy seems pretty pleased with having set up this spectacle, Norbert is unconvinced. Quietly, but firmly he insists that this is not at all what he prefers. The Shady Guy stops the pony training, and instead has the girl tied to an overhead bar. He whips her bottom for supposedly not putting on a good enough show for their customer.
This is also a nicely shot whipping, with not a stroke out of place. The girl has plenty of wriggling room, which is appealing in itself. Norbert is visibly enflamed by the proceedings, but – presumably being the soft-hearted Westerner – he stops the whipping, as though guilty for the pain the girl had to suffer. He strokes her bottom in delight, clearly not eager to part with such a wonderful toy. The Shady Guy suggests that he has a go at whipping the next girl himself.
The Man and his Maid.
It’s now the turn of the blonde girl who at the start of the film had wondered whether her punishment would hurt. She is now dressed in an adorable maid’s outfit, complete with stockings with white garters that give her an innocent look. She appears in the dungeon carrying a coffee cup and a feather duster at the same time. Her hand trembles, and the coffee sloshes over the edge of the cup onto the saucer.
The Shady Guy nods to Norbert, who takes the hint and after only a second’s hesitation orders the girl to bend over his knee for punishment. He starts with a few wimpy hand-spanks, but quickly gets into the swing of things when the Shady Guy hands him a round wooden spatula with a hole in the middle. The girl whimpers and twists around a lot, her bottom reddening quickly. Although Norbert is enjoying himself, he soon wants more.
The girl is made to strip and is locked into a pillory, while Norbert is handed a cane. He pulls the strokes at first but the Shady Guy encourages him to be more forceful. As though having waited for the excuse, he then starts whipping the cane down from above the shoulder.
The girl’s position in the pillory means that she is free to twist her bottom, but cannot move her arms, legs or head. Her frantic movements mean that it’s hard to be precise, but Norbert manages admirably, with only a few strokes a landing a little high on his wriggling target.
WARNING:
Here I really must pause and give you a warning.
If you’re looking forward to a pleasant stretch of masturbation while watching this movie, there is certainly plenty to fire you up, however, you absolutely, unequivocally and definitely want to have finished by the time this third caning is over. I mean it. Save your best self-stroking effort to bringing yourself off before the end of the maid’s caning, or you’ll lose all thrust and momentum. Pause the player if you have to: a good cue is when Norbert begins to stroke the girl’s striped bottom.
Because just after this moment the plot turns. I won’t give away the twist, other than to say that the entire dungeon team plays a practical joke on their hapless Western customer. It’s quite funny in a cruel, quite surreal way, and you may enjoy finding out the secrets of the spooky dungeon, but let’s just say it’s not sexy – not even vaguely.
After all is said and done.
All in all, it’s a fun film, with a witty (though not overtly humorous) plot. The story is quite self-indulgent, with a lot of detailed scenes that I don’t intend to rewatch when I see the film again. Yet, it’s charming, and has all the things people watch Lupus films for, so ultimately it’s a success.

As usual a good plot and film now from the end of 1980`s with lovely girls, especially innocent Renata. It is harsh like Lupus Pictures. Your “Warning” is a real Adele comment full of humour and also shrewd.

Those Lupus Pictures productions do seem very harsh.
Erik – I agree, Renata has an amazing face. Just makes me want to hug and protect her. Or watch her spanked maybe :)
Kars – Yes, they’re pretty specialised. This is probably one of the less severe films: still very harsh, but not to the point of some of their other ones.

You are so good to comment on questions, I have one. I have the feeling that CP-films are more and more harsh, The poor girls have to endure more hard strokes. Maybe not Lupus, still the same harsh caning, but Mood, Kshara etc. Am I right?

Well, to be brief: I don’t think so. There are plenty of new sites for those who enjoy lighter spankings; I don’t think new severe sites multiply at anything like a similar rate.
Maybe I’ll write about in a separate post some time; thanks for giving me the idea.
