Fetish, Fetish Everywhere
There’s a sympathetic article about fetish in general and FetishCon in particular over on MSNBC. (Thanks, Redhead, for sending the link.) Mostly it’s case studies: the reporter is wandering around the convention suite looking at people’s costumes and talking to whoever will talk to him.
Plenty of people there are into stuff that I’m not into, but spankos are also represented:
Many trace their interest in alternative sex practices to youth, or even childhood. “My earliest memory — I didn’t even know about sex — was the warm feeling a spanking would give me,” a woman named Rita, who works at the Kink Shop in Shreveport, La., recalls. “When I couldn’t sleep as a girl, if I thought about spanking, I could drift off.”
Uh-huh. Sound familiar to anybody?
Anyway, as I said, the article is reasonably kink-friendly, and the accompanying slide-show of people in all their fetish glory, along with some voice interviews is also pretty cool. (Click “launch” under the picture of a stunning corseted woman. You may be asked to download a Flash plugin.)
The only thing I’m not sure about is, who lets a journalist into a fetish gathering? Is that the standard thing to do now, to let a reporter into your party?

Very interesting article, I had no idea about some of those fetish’s, probably because I live under a rock? Thanks for providing the link Adele, or Redhead, or one of you!!
Yes, the wakeful nights, settled by dreaming/fantasising about spanking sounds VERY close to home.
“…who lets a journalist into a fetish gathering?”
Well I’d come.
Leia-Ann,
“sounds VERY close to home”
Don’t say it too loud or Ken’ll be putting up your council tax again – education, police and now spanking dreams.
