Gay porn-stars aren’t good enough to make sandwiches

Radical Vixen writes about a 22-year-old gay porn star, Kurt Wild, who got recognised as such while working in Subway. The customer who recognised him, and demanded that he be fired immediately, under threat of boycott of the shop.Do you think the shop said to the customer:

a) “Oooh, we wonder how you know that this young man fucks guys on camera? Is it maybe because you’ve watched his movies? If watching them is OK for you, than his working here is OK for us. Or is it maybe that even watching the filthy pornos couldn’t help you get it up, and you were denied a refund? Fuck you, dude”

b) “Certainly, sir. It would be an absolute tragedy if a connoisseur of gay porn such as you stopped eating in our shop. We will kick out this dirty rascal at once, least he reminded you of your guilty porn-watching secrets.”

You won’t be surprised to find out that the answer was closer to B than A, Subway rolled over, and the boy got fired.

If your appetite for Subway sandwiches is suddenly wavering, here’s a customer form for letting them know, and here’s the original story for reference (OMG, that boy’s hot; I’d love to see him in a school uniform, caned over the seat of his grey stretched trousers by a hauty prefect. They could throw in a little buggery if they wanted; those prefects can be so abusive.)

Ugh. Not you, nor the yummy caning you described, but my goodness Subway. Since when are private lives of employees not private?

  2. Linda says:

LOL. I love the same. Like Ewan McGregor’s character in Velvet Goldmine.

  3. A.S.S. says:

Well… losing his job is just going to put Mr Wild in arrears again. Anyway, how does one notice a gay porn star? Notice him enough to be SURE it’s him? Something else is going on there. Strange story, but it sure does sound like the owner of that Subway is off his rocker.

Was the customer having feelings of inadequacy after viewing the Subway star repeatedly in slow-mo or just worried about the ‘secret sauce’?

  5. This makes me wish that we had Subways where I live, so that I could boycott them. They deserve to lose busyness for this kind of persecution.

I have my doubts about this. For one thing it would run afoul of the Gay anti-discrimination groups. I would expect them to be saying something that would make it into the mainstream press.

The other thing is I can’t see the manager giving a damn. the only way the customer is going to know is if he watches Gay Porn.

Unless this customer had a large religious group behind him nothing would happen. And the large religious groups are too busy going after Gay teachers.

  7. Adele says:

Bodack, there’s no law against porn-star discrimination. I’m not convinced that if the guy was doing straight porn, or if it was a girl porn-star, the manager may not have decided to fire them anyway to save raising a stink.

  8. bodack says:

    Adele,
I never said the managers actions were against the law. It depends on the city and how the local judges interpret hate crime statues.

The point is, this is not in a mainstream publication. I would think that if it were true the Gay activist groups would be starting their own boycott of Subway which would have made the mainstream press. That is why I don’t believe the story.

It sounds like he got fired for something else and is using this as an excuse.

As far as my comments about hate crimes. A pizza hut in the Midwest got sued for bad service. The people claimed it was because of their skin color and they won.

  9. Adele says:

Ah, I see your point. I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth unless I dig deep into it, but I don’t care strongly enough to do that. So… we’re each left with our belief on this one. :)

  10. Alan says:

I was just about to fire off the form to Subway, when I read Bodack’s sensible comment and decided to hang fire pending “further and better particulars”.
I know absolutely nothing about American anti-discrimination law, but if this story IS true, it really seems disgraceful. (Nearer home, I think we all know of a not dissimilar case involving the sacking of one of Adele’s colleagues.)

  11. Adele says:

It’s just occurred to me that the easiest way to find out whether it’s true would be to send them a righteous telling-off in a customer form, and see what if anything they say in response.

If I weren’t so lazy, I’d probably do that, too.

This is not the first time this has happened.
A former porn star who went by the name of Brandi Alexandre suffered the same exact kind of injustice when recognised at a job after retiring from the adult business some years back. Where people get the idea they have some right to do this kind of garbage escapes me. I know one of the regional directors of SUBWAY on the west coast, and still being just Irish enough to remember where the term “Boycott” originated from, instead of filling out some form maybe I’ll just notify him directly.

  13. Adele says:

Ah-ha, I knew this sort of treatment wasn’t reserved to gay porn-stars…

  14. Trip says:

    Typos corrected.

Oh, perhaps it’s different in thr U.K., but censorshp in the U.S. of so-called pornographic materials cannot include “content specific criteria” not closely linked to the original objectionable speech. Justice Stevens’ classic comment was that, though, one could ban a type of pornographic speech, one could not only ban a sub-set of that speech performed by blue-eyed Swedish actresses.
