I should amend my comment on St Trinians. It promised something and delivered rather a lot. It obviously struck a chord as it was used as theme for some tv commercials a couple of years ago and caused a howl of outrage from feminists because of the schoolgirl theme. I would not for one moment suggest a new one should be Lupus inspired. That is not it’s market. The Carry On films were pathetic, not funny heavily boring and camp in the dullest way. Same with the Whacko tv series with professor Jimmy Edwards brandishing canes at every opportunity and fruitily banging on about “six of the best” and never a cane stroke landed.

As for the little debate that’s ensued on what was a *humorous* post originally at The Spanking Writers… I’ve always thought of St Trinian’s as a comedy made primarily for adults – but gentle enough to be watched by younger folks, in the same way that (say) the “Carry On” films are appropriate for viewers of all ages. I don’t think the “U” rating denotes that it’s aimed at kids – just that it’s not unsuitable for them.

And I doubt anyone is seriously arguing that the remake should actually be shot in homage to say, Lupus…

We have an accord Mrs Haze regards school-girl uniforms (in adult context). However I stand-by the remark that St Trinians is a kids film, and anyone thinking its lacking in “Spanko content” really needs to have a re-think.

PS MichaelDavid if I’ve taken your comment out of context then I apologise.

PPS I’m sure any modern re-make would be smutty enough for adults, without a single overt reference. ;-)

Well theres a suprise, what with it being a U rated Ealing comedy for the consumption of all including Minors.

I wonder sometimes I really do. Is it just me that doesn’t expect the rest of the world to provide explicit titilation in anything that features a school theme?

Is there really going to be a new St Trinians film? The originals suggested a lot but delivered nothing. Be nice if there was a new one which delivered along with all the uniforms and and stuff..A tall headmistress with a lorgnette, black bombazine and selection of canes would add to it all.
