Holding on to the girlfriend

This video, “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend” by Black Kids, doesn’t have a lot of sexy/fetishy things concentrating in it, but I thought it had enough there that it belonged on the blog.

For one thing, even though it’s sung by a guy, and the relationships in the video itself are M/F, it’s an unashamedly queer, F/F song. I like that. There aren’t that many songs in the charts that speak to me like that.

And for another thing… hello, cheerleaders! Cheerleaders in a video are always a good thing.

How does this fit in with Chris de Burgh? ;)

The queerest F/F song I’ve ever heard is ‘Damn, I wish I was your lover’, by Sophie B. Hawkins… and guess who is going to cover it on their upcoming album?

(Hint: I think you’re going to buy their album!)

Bizarre as this probably sounds given the group – The singer’s voice really reminds me of Robert Smith in one of The Cure’s poppier numbers.
