Pretty Woman, Give a Smack To Me

“Pretty Woman” was on yesterday, and even though I know that movie off by heart, I couldn’t help watching it – at least until it got to That Scene. You know the one: where Richard Gere takes Julia Roberts shopping, and makes all the snooty boutique people suck up to her while Roy Orbison sings. Oooh, but seeing it makes me happy.

I’m sure that young girls watching That Scene are supposed to think “I hope when I grow up I’ll marry Richard Gere, and he’ll take me shopping”, or “When I grow up, I’ll earn lots of money and take Richard Gere shopping”, or some such. When I was little, and watched “Pretty Woman” for the first time, all I could think was “Wow, I’d like to be the sort of high-class call girl who gets to stay in penthouse suits all the time, and gets taken shopping as part of her duties.”

My career ambitions were pretty advanced, as you can see. Shame I grew up to dislike sex and hate shopping for clothes, otherwise I’m sure I’d have been there by now.

I would love to remake That Scene in a spanking video, though. Not sure how the plot would work, and where the spanking would fit in, but with the right boutique and that Roy Orbison track in the background, I’m sure we’d work something out.

    If you’re thinking of a suitable Roy Orbison backing track for a spanking scene, then what about ‘Crying’ or ‘Love Hurts’ ?
    There must be plenty of scope for making a few appropriate changes to the lyrics of those songs.

    (Both tracks are available on the compilation CD ‘The Essential Roy Orbison’ – and don’t panic, I don’t own it.)

    I’ve done the pretty woman scene real life, but with twist. Had been spoiled lots, but one stop was a high end lingerie boutique. I was not permitted to talk to the assistants but had to try on various sets of lingerie, and the assistants eventually figured out to defer to my Richard Gere. If that were not humiliating enough, he then made the assistants adjust the suspender straps on my stockings to make sure they saw the cane marks on my thighs and then made me turn full circle with my hands on my heads as he and assistants appraised the lingerie…
