Sex Blogging and Publicity

I’m a coward, munchkins. I was contacted by a television guy researching a documentary on sex bloggers, but have refused to talk to him. Oh no! There go my 1.5 minutes of fame.

I bet the university would have _loved_ it, though.

Anyway, if:

1. You’re a sex blogger

2. The same guy hasn’t written to you already

3. You don’t mind public scrutiny

4. You want publicity and hordes of readers – let me know, and I’ll point him to you. He’s still looking, as far as I’m aware.

I guess you heard about what happened to the “Girl with a One-Track Mind”. Her blog was given some sort of award. She then published a book based on it. Then she was “outed” by the British tabloid press, lost her job in the film industry and that was as far as I followed the story. She’s probably still blogging though.

It was worse than that: she wasn’t outed by the tabloids, but by the good old Sunday Times, the supposedly respectable newspaper.

Rather takes the nice glow off interviews, I tell you.

He contacted me as well, and I haven’t even replied yet. I need to get around to wording a polite “no”.

LOL Yeah, somehow “You must be fucking kidding” doesn’t seem like an appropriate response to a politely worded request.

Also: “How do you think I’m supposed to explain this to Mum and Dad? NO!”

He asked me for ‘tips’ if I wasn’t able to be interviewed myself, and I feel like I ought to say something … I was considering posting about it as well, except that I’m not sure my reasons for starting the blog were entirely noble! Maybe I should just stay quiet ;)

I’m not sure there *is* such a thing as an ignoble blog, other than one that consists entirely from stolen content surrounded by clickable ads. From what you told me about yours, I wouldn’t worry about that :)

Oh yeah, blogs that present fiction as fact (with no disclaimer) are also slightly iffy in my opinion.
