Spanking Producers of Very Little Brain
Perhaps, some readers would expect me to be a cheerleader for the industry, but I can’t help being an opinionated brat. (And I won’t let anybody punish me for this, either: as far as I’m concerned, it’s a great personality trait. Besides, I don’t really feel like part of the industry yet, having only experienced life in its one tiny corner.)
Thus, let me confirm what you might have noticed before: a lot of spanking films are really bad. Mostly, these are the ones that are made by big-budget vanilla pornsters looking to branch out; those guys don’t quite understand how to make a spanko go “Ooooooh.”
Dear producers of spanking films, when you’re not into spanking yourselves, here are a few things you should bear in mind:
- Make your fucking doms take off their fucking jeans and put some decent trousers on when they’re supposed to be teaching a class or taking detention. An academic gown *may* be a lot to ask for, but honestly: a teacher in jeans?
- If your dom doesn’t know what to say in response to a bratty girl’s comment, for God’s sake, do another take. Nothing breaks the mood more surely than an umming and aaaahhhing disciplinarian.
- And actually, why not walk through the scene before filming it in the first place? It takes all of five minutes, because you don’t have to do the spanking as well.
- Effective disciplinarians don’t shout.
- While we’re on the subject of doms: please hire some hot ones. Of course, good-looking male models want paying, and smaller companies will simply go bust if they pay the men. But when you’re a large company, there’s no excuse to leave the spanking to the same middle-aged creep with a declasse accent and zero screen presence.
- If your actors can’t cope with improvisation, do them a kindness and give them a script; even a basic one will do.
- However, I have to concede that a lot of people with decent improvisation skills sound pretty stilted with a script. In this case, stop telling your actors what to say; (Yes, I’m quite contrary, aren’t I? Well, making good porn takes intuition.)
- Develop some intuition!
- There is absolutely no need to have schoolgirls take all their clothes off. None. It bugs the hell out of people with the authentic school kink – and those who don’t have it don’t care that the girl was dressed in a school uniform in the first place. There’s space for everything: do some films with nudity if your viewers want them. But please, stop stripping schoolgirls naked for no good reason.
- Most spankos don’t actually care for extreme anatomical close-ups of girls’ genitalia. You know, those bottoms that they like seeing smacked? When during a spanking you zoom on the labia, leaving the spanking action completely off-screen, you’re wasting the content that’s the whole *point* of your site. Get a clue.
- Your best shot would be to hire a spanko director, and give her full creative freedom.
- There is a special place in hell saved for webmasters who in the description on their sites use language that’s derogatory to the models. Nobody consents to her image being used next to a slogan “teach this bitch a lesson”, or similar. Don’t do this. Seriously.
- A smaller, but still hot place in hell is reserved for people who allow rampant spelling mistakes in their descriptions, with particularly scorchy frying pans for the misspellers of models’ names.
Not pointing fingers here, or anything, but sapienti sat.

I agree with every word you have to say in your first blog posting. What really makes me mad that some of these big companies but out crappy spanking videos and still people buy these crappy spanking videos.
I have to say their are a few good companies out there and they know who they are. Since I done a few spanking videos for companies like Nu-Weat Leda Studios, Brooks Application,Pacific Force. These companies have always put out real good spanking videos.
I sure don’t like companies that say to you okay can you look like your crying when we shoot the photo sets for this video. No! is always my answer you have to be in the moment to capture that on film or photo’s. With this day in age of capture hoto shoots when eddting a video. Why don’t companies take the video the capture when they eddit and produce photos from the frames on the video clip instead.
Yes also cheerleader and school girl don’t need to be strip down to their birthday suits to put out a great spanking video. I also would like spanking companies to use every day household implemnts to spank the spankee or Bottom in a spanking video sometimes.
It seems most video companies do the same boring scenrios as well as implemnts used in the video. Come on this is 2006 use your imanigation please. I know spankos that can come up with better scenrios then some of these so called big companies. Sorry to go on for so long. That is my two cents.

Its very refreshing to see someone post their opinions with conviction (besides myself, lol). If I may however interject a thought, not everyone has the same interests, nor the desire to see the same scenes, attire, implements and so forth. Nor does everyone who makes videos or provides clips via a website stage every shot and script every scene. Contrary to popular myth a “real spanking” is not what one sees on certain websites that herald what they do as such. If I purchase a video that has perfect looking actors, a brilliant set, exquisite photography and camera equipment and looks like a million bucks it has the same effect on me that “porn” does with you. Theres no realism to it regardless of how well it was done. But I do acknowledge that some consumers prefer perfection no matter how fake it is and others don’t. Which is my whole point. Everyone has their preferances and its not a one size fits all world nor should it be. Anyhow, good luck with your blog. :)

Darlene – interesting point. I must say, I’ve never yet watched a video that was so perfect in every respect that it seemed unreal; perhaps, I have very high bar for perfection. There’s always something for me to moan about, even though I know how hard it is to film a perfect video.
I *have* watched some low-production, badly lit videos that have nonetheless worked great for me thanks to the atmosphere or the models’ acting. (The ancient “Room 2D” comes to mind; I don’t even know who maid it: it must be at least as old as I am. But the model in that one is pure perfection.) The crux of the argument for me is whether it looks like the makers care about customer satisfaction as much as getting the customers inside their site in the first place.
All that said, I do like a sleek, shiny photoset.
FYI, Room 2D was made by Alan Bell of Roue magazine in about 1980. Along with First Week Of Term, from the same source, it is one of the all time greats.

What you are talking about doesn’t just apply to spanking movies or D/s movies but ALL porn.
The fact is that the industry continues to pump out tons and tons of crap and people continue to buy (or download) it.
In ‘vanilla’ porn, there are some people out there trying to do something more with it, and thats good. However, they seem to have forgotten that, when push comes to shove, porn is for getting off.
They seem to focus on more mood-setting stuff.
And don’t get me wrong, thats great!

There’s a book called ‘The Things They Carried’ by Tim O’Brien.
While this book is about Viet Nam (hardly a sexy topic) it does something I believe the makers of porn could learn from. The book is basically a series of short stories that carry through the same characters, that often tell the same story from different perspectives (different people and/or different times).
We don’t want to bring too much plot into anything, but imagine a film that was a series of shorts, following someone through their sexual life. Each scene would have plot, character, style, but it would nevver get so involved as to distract from the, well, fucking.
But there would be substance.
Who is more interesting to watch having sex? A clumsy, virtually nameless person, or someone you understand?
Anyhow, just my thoughts.

Moleboy, I think, I grok what you’re saying. Maybe what it boils down to, is that it’s more exciting to watch/read a piece of fiction with engaging characters than one with stock characters or no distinguishable characters at all. The genre of the piece doesn’t appear to make that much difference: characters matter in porn after all.

Moleboy: I wouldn’t claim that the sort of stuff you mention doesn’t exist, because somebody is bound to appear and say: “Hey! You’re talking out of your behind! Here it is, and do your homework better next time.”
There’s such a huge amount of porn out there, that anybody’s chances of encountering exactly what they like are pretty small. You’d just have to spend all your time looking. It’s easier with spanking porn, because there just isn’t as much, but sometimes I’ll find a nice clip made in something like ‘92, and think – wow, why haven’t I seen it before? Because there’s just too much stuff to get through, that’s why. I’m still looking for my perfect vid…

I do not think a script is always necessary. I have been doing live session for over 8 years and never once needed a script just a short layout of the scenario. I think it should come natural. Also there are many facets to spanking so finding the right spanking partner is not always easy. Just because we are all into spanking does not mean we enjoy the same role play, Implements, costumes, sets or scenarios….
