I’m convince designers are following Ms. Flynn around. One year after she wore ballet shoes around the room parties at SL and suddenly ballet flats are back in huge way.

For some odd reason I find myself thinking of her every time I see the latest styles.

But I agree, both for price and style, thrift / vintage rocks. Besides, I can’t afford Betsey Johnson’s new stuff.

Seriously, Niki, I’d much rather be dressed in petticoats and crinolines than endure torture by fashion, but as you say, Hollywood costumiers don’t seem to wish to open their doors to the likes of us.

Fashion? What’s that? LOL I rarely have a clue about what’s supposedly “in style”; I just wear what I like and wouldn’t know (or care) whether it was this season’s hottest trend or “so last year” or the finest Victorian frippery. Most of my favorite stuff comes from eBay or vintage shops anyway. It’s rare that I find anything in the high street that I like. It didn’t even matter when I was 15 – so long as it was black!

Actually, Adele, your correspondents sound pretty easy to please. Mine all seem to want things like 19th century pirate or Old West prostitute costumes. Not that I mind, of course; I’d dearly love to have access to Hollywood wardrobe departments. I suppose I could always use it as an excuse to buy all that stuff for myself. I’ve always wanted the full Victorian experience: corset, crinoline, bustle skirt, pantaloons, etc. Know where I could find a good lady’s maid? ;-)

MichaelDavid – If I were shooting custom pictures or videos, that would normally be the policy, yes. As I mostly post the pictures I already have (with an occassional “easy” home snap), sending me clothes isn’t necessary. :)

Amber – That’s just shocking. Mind you, I didn’t notice my American friends suffer from fashion deficiency, but that might be because they are, for the most part, students and fetish models!

Lancs – Your niece takes after you in the cheekiness department, then? ;)

One of my favourite bitchy comments was made by my then 15ish year old niece as she described one of her schoolmates as “dressed in the height of last year’s fashion.” Would you really want your correspondents to bring you to this? I do understand that the concept of height is an alien one to you, Adele :p

This is Europe, man, it’s not appropriate to dress like this where I live in US, unless you are a highschool student/cheerleader. It’s rare to see an adult woman in tight clothes here. In fact, I might be the only one, although I am often mistaken for a student (well, I like my curves to show, it’s because I am from Europe), but makes my husband somewhat uncomfortable.Or, God forbid, a low-cut. People are just uncomfortable around you when you are dressed that way.
