The Final Pre-Race Post

Ooh… The Race Day – it’s almost here! I can hear the drum-rolls! (Although it’s quite possible that I’m hallucinating from lack of sleep, caffeine overdoze, and a massive case of sub-drop after a spanking party in Glasgow yesterday.)

I have a few things to say before I head off to London first thing tomorrow morning.

1. The person who has shelled out GBP 120 for a pair of my knickers: you’re insane. You’re lovely, and generous, and an all-round nice person, and our donations tally has jumped right up thanks to you, but you’re still insane. Thank you!

(The people who have got my other stuff: we are, of course, grateful to you too. You’re not quite so insane, but you’re still lovely and generous, and all-round nice.)

2. If you’re in London with nothing to do this coming Sunday, you can

  • come and cheer us on as we stagger through the streets of London, and/or
  • come to the pub for the After Race Party.

The practicalities of doing these things are described in detail on the Bums On The Run site.

3. I can’t wait. This is going to be such a laugh! By all accounts, there’s going to be a nice little group of walking wounded staggering at the back, as well as those who haven’t actually done any training at all. As the race starts and finishes at the same place, I think the girls who finish early ought to do another circle and catch up with the rest of us.

4. Nothing, but nothing had given rise to as much excitement on the runners’ mailing list as the discussion about what we’re all wearing for the race.

5. You can still donate.

So awesome what you’re doing. The generosity of time and effort… and sweat… in helping others with health problems… warms our hearts! Wish this story got more press.
