The Principal’s Office on TV

My American readers may wish to schedule some TV-watching time for tomorrow, as a new reality show premiers on truTV:

Each The Principal’s Office episode will introduce viewers to various principals and the personal way he or she governs the school they run.

In addition, it will also follow several disciplinary issues at the school as they unfold to give viewers a sense of how each principal handles discipline on a daily basis, and the fallout that normally ensues.

The Principal’s Office’s premiere episode will follow Danbury, CT high school assistant principal Jessie Ballenger as she deals with a student who sneaks off campus to avoid eating school lunch; New Milford, NJ high school principal Eric Sheninger handling a class clown with a with a knack for distracting classmates; and Booneville, AR high school principal Steve Halter making a tardy student decide between Saturday detention or corporal punishment in the form of three paddle whacks.

Hmm, I wonder if this is a remake of that other famous series, “The Headmaster’s Study” by Lupus?

Thanks for the heads up, Adele. Not much to see here; three wacks overheard thru the closed door with accompanying grunts followed by a much too large lad (for only 3 whacks) emerging as incorrigible as when he went in. There was a cute girl in the cue wondering if she had made a mistake volunteering for the quick way out. I’m sure it will all be on Youtube soon.

Oh yes, there was some paddle play wherein the principle demonstrates the process by wielding the paddle on an imaginary student bent over a chair back. He demonstrated three whacks in rapid succession. The opressive aura of the place (a principles office) really takes me back…

I happened to catch the preview for the episode of the choice between swats and saturday detention.

It brought back the memories of the first time I was swatted at school…I was given a similiar choice – 500 lines or 3 swats. I of course went with the numbers and took the swats … haven’t looked back since.
