Adele, I missed out on the De-lurk day cos i was on holiday, but im glad to see you managed to get lots to come out of the shadows!
I have never lurked, which hasn't always done me any favours as being about the parapet can backfire sometimes , but i'm glad i had the chance to find your site and tell you how great it is and how much i like your style of writing.
I will only post when i think i have something to add but often it's intellectually above my head (particularly literary works, i never read as a child and am now too lazy) so I just read the posts, learn and admire the effort you must put into all this. The spanking stuff of course i understand well, but there is so much more in your site and thats why I like it.

Take care and i hope your ex-lurkers enjoy being here now.

Amber - It's sounds like you have a lot of fun at your place :) I think you really should start your own blog, I for one would tune in to keep apprised of your latest spanking experiments.

I'm not sure about the longevity of these canes, but I do recall some of my willows drying out and getting a bit brittle. I eventually had to throw them all out when I moved across the pond. It was a busy time as it was and the last thing I wanted were complications pertaining to importing foreign plant parts or some other transgression. Maybe soaking them or varnishing them is the answer - that's just more experiments to report on in your forthcoming blog ;)

I laughed at your comment about Adele probably telling you to get your own blog, as I had a similar thought when I read back my post about the life and times of my willow tree.

Amber - when a comment thread develops into a dialogue with a community feel, it can only be a good thing. I'm always happy to read other people's dirty details :)

Hey Remus - I just turned my favorite "apple stick," as my husband calls the apple switch, into a sort of a cane last night. I liked it as it was, but then I figured it would be nicer if it was entirely smooth, so I cleaned it of the bark and sanded it and now it's indeed smooth and pretty, and it became quite a bit lighter in weight. My husband told me to put mineral oil on it to keep it from drying out and cracking. Amazing, it sucks the oil right up.
Do they last? I think you probably have to oil them on a regular basis, unless I was to varnish it, but I don't like the idea of a chemically treated wood on by bare bottom. Since you sound like you've done that a lot, I was wondering what you'd have to say about that. In case you wonder what happened next, my husband wanted to try it out right away, despite the fact that I had already gotten about 50 strokes with it last night, before its transfiguration (It's probably a lot, but after the 25 I counted out in English, as usual, he asked me to count off another 19 in Russian which he found very arousing, but since I haven't been thanking him, halfway through he decided to start all over again, with me counting and saying "thank you" in Russian this time. It is still hurting a bit to sit down). Anyway, at that point I couldn't really tell the impact of the new incarnation of the apple switch, it just hurt. (At this point Adele is probably going to tell me to get my own blog and stop sharing dirty details of my private life on hers).

Amber - I've only tried experimenting with willow to date. When I still lived in England, I used to have an ornamental willow tree in my garden, but my cats used to love sharpening their claws on it and as a result, I assume what eventually happened, was that the top part of the tree which had originally been grafted on died, and I was left with the rootstock of a proper huge willow tree. In very little time, masses of long vertical willow canes started growing out of the base of what remained of the tree. Unfortunately for the tree, which was only ever supposed to be a little dwarf thing, it became huge and despite it's rather stunning appearance I had to grasp the nettle, so to speak, and chop it down, as it was now too near the house for its size. I love trees, so I wasn't too happy about having to do that, but on the plus side, I was left with masses and masses of willow canes of all different lengths and thicknesses. I made all kinds of "birches" and canes from them, single prong, double, triple, otk canes and birches, unfeasibly long canes, you name it I made it and tried it out with my girlfriend of the time. I look back at those times as some of the best I've had..so far. The idea of trying lots of different types of woods is thrilling and definitely something I'll get around to some day. It's quite an amazing thing to seemingly innocently hold a branch of a tree while secretly getting a buzz from it, as your mind works overtime imagining all the possibilities. You're right about the great sounds they make - sometimes when my girlfriend wasn't there, I would swish various canes through the air and get turned on just by the incredible sounds they would make.

Adele - Yes, I'm afraid it would have to be that song, as that particular fantasy wouldn't really make sense otherwise! Still, there are lots more that could be based around the music room without that tune, I'm sure.

Thanks, Adele. I was actually thinking of writing "a Farmwife's blog," then I thought about writing a "Kinky Farmwife's blog," to spice up those pickle recipes and such with the details of some of our memorable spanking adventures, which at times can be too good to keep to yourself. I could also promote the back-to-the-lander life with its abounding benefits: you can, for example, make love in the nude in the middle of a hayfield on a summer night under the stars, and all company you'll ever encounter that time a day is deer. Gives "the roll in the hay" a whole new dimension, too (nice and poky).

Remus - Starting your own production company just to shoot the one fantasy is an overkill indeed, I'll grant you that. The piano fantasy sounds intriguing, though (I have a few of my own) - does it *have* to be that particular song, though. 8-O

Amber - You're the first person I've ever heard compare different types of switches; with knowledge like that, you should be blogging!

Ouch, Remus, those hurt! I tried 1)genuine birch twig 2)twig from a lilac bush 3)twig from the apple orchard (with 10 acres I can experiment with various homegrown toys) - the first two were discarded after the first few strokes - the thin twigs cut the skin so much that the pain seemed insane. The apple twig, however, which was much denser and thicker I loved right away, and so did my husband - it is still one of our most favorite implements. It makes such a nice sound as it travels through the air before landing in its destination, and, as my husband noted, complies with the rule of a thumb, too.

Thanks for the comments Adele. Of course, the other option would be to start my own production company, but that's not really a feasible option right now.

Anyway, if that fantasy is viewed as a bit unique, perhaps I'd better keep quiet about the one involving a piano lesson, Gilbert and Sullivan's song "Tit Willow" from "The Mikado" and an extremely slender willow twig!..'cos that one's totally bonkers!

Keep up the good work.
