Not sure of the exact law, but some years back I played a police officer in a TV drama. Because the uniforms were 100% realistic we were made to remove the hat/jackets etc when the cameras weren't rolling. There was also a 'police car' being used that had to be covered in case it was mistaken for a real one. So there's obviously some law or other. To arrest a stripper seems a bit ott though.

Surely, what the guy needs to do is persuade all his mates and their girlfriends to turn up outside the court wearing police uniforms, and take over the public gallery. The real police won’t be able to arrest them all, and if the case then gets sufficient news coverage they won’t arrest the guy again either. Few people in authority like to see their stupidity aired in public.

Yes, I want to know what this is about. I suppose it hangs on the meaning of "impersonate". But I've always understood that they can't prosecute me for wearing a police uniform, as fancy dress, unless I use it to claim the powers of a police officer. And I think the, er, "victim" needs to have reasonable cause to believe me before it counts as an offence. Otherwise there will be many stage actors locked up before we know it...
